Emmelyn visits Chuck E Cheese's
Salt Lake has been hit with a couple late spring snowstorms, which thwarted any plans to go to the park this weekend. Instead, we decided to check out Chuck E Cheese's in Sandy, to see what Emmelyn thought of giant mascots before we bring her to see the Easter Bunny. She was indifferent to Chuck E and the musical players, but liked staring at the lights and motion in the game room. She was particularly enamored by skee ball, much to her dad's satisfaction.
She is starting to crawl and we'll try to catch it on video soon. We're working on doing some extra baby proofing around the house before she starts climbing.

Emmelyn's first playdate
Emmelyn spent Sunday at a playdate, making new friends with Willa Jayne (middle) and Leonora (left). Not pictured is Finley Joe, who is too little (2 months) to join in the fun yet.
It was a great chance for the moms to get together to exchange notes and ideas. Leo and Em are just eight days apart, and Em is about four weeks older than Willa Jayne.

Emmelyn goes swimming
Emmelyn went in the water for the first time today at swimming lessons and seemed to enjoy herself. She didn't cry at all and was amused by the other babies splashing in the water around her. We zipped her around, blew bubbles and put a toy turtle out in front of her to get her to "paddle" her arms at it as we held her. All in all, it was a good little class. We'll post more videos later. We brought the camcorder, and it takes mea awhile to edit those down to be postable videos on the blog. I'll post a shorter video in the meantime from our regular camcorder.

Em's new BOB!
Our family is the proud new owner of a BOB Revolution --which was technically my birthday/Valentine's Day/wedding anniversary present and admittedly a bit of a splurge (insert Joe's eyeroll here. He has been hearing about the BOB Revolution for months and thinks I should join their marketing team because I clearly think they are wonderful). We finally got it this week --the brown and pink model, no less.(Thank you, REI winter clearance sale).
Tonight after work I bundled Emmelyn up and we went out into the 50 degree weather for our first run. She really seemed to like it, which is good news for me and my exercise goals. It is very light and the wheels move so much better on the running trail. We also absolutely love our other stroller for trips to the mall, etc. But the BOB is going to be great for summer hiking, running and other adventures on rough terrain, so our other stroller doesn't get so beat up.
We ran around the neighborhood tonight, but I'm looking forward to our inaugural trip to Sugar House park soon, to see how it zips around the loop there.
