She's almost here!

OK, so I fell off the blog bandwagon and thought I'd to a quick entry with the latest:

--The second trimester was a vast improvement over the first! It was great to not be sick everyday; the anti-nausea meds really did the trick.

--We celebrated Baby Whetham's arrival at the beginning of June with friends and family back in Minnesota. We spent several days at a condo on Lake Pepin with the Rogers' side of the family and a couple days in Stillwater with the Whetham family. We had two get togethers with family to celebrate the baby --one with the Rogers/Workin clan in Eagan and one with the Whethams at a Bayport park. Needless to say she was spoiled.

--Baby Whetham was spoiled more after Melinda spent a week in Moorhead following the Lake Pepin/Stillwater trip. Grandma Sue's friends threw Melinda a nice party that was so much fun! Everyone had nice advice and Baby Whetham's wardrobe of cute clothes grew. Melinda also got to visit Baby Whetham's great grandpa and grandma out at Twin Lake. Her cousins, the Langeruds, are anxious for her arrival so they can have a new swimming buddy next summer. They even got her a baby bikini so she is ready for the lake.

--The rest of June and July seemed to fly by. We have almost finished the nursery, compliments of Grandpa and Grandma Rogers, who helped purchase Baby Whetham's crib and dresser. We found a cute bookcase and rocking chair on craigslist and have a pink/green/yellow daisy theme going on in the room. It has turned out very cute! Joe has also put the stroller together from Grandpa and Grandma Whetham.

--July took a bit of a roadbump when Melinda was ordered on bedrest for a week due to concerns with high blood pressure/protein in the system/swelling. Doctors are monitoring her for pregnancy induced hypertension and/or preeclampsia. So far, it looks like bedrest is doing the trick ---and Baby Whetham hopefully won't be born too early!

--Despite the bedrest setback, Melinda's Utah friends/co-workers spoiled her with yet another baby party! It was so much fun to hear their advice and Joe and Melinda now have a list of very willing babysitters in Utah. :-) We are lucky to be surrounded by great people who have helped us out in getting ready for Baby Whetham.

--Melinda will continue going to the doctor a couple times a week to make sure everything is still going OK. Despite the bedrest issues, Baby Whetham kicks away everyday and keeps her mom wide awake from about 3 to 5 a.m.
